recent與recently的詞性分別為形容詞和副詞，含義為“近來；最近，近日，不久前”，相對應(yīng)的“近來”的含義對應(yīng)著現(xiàn)在完成（進(jìn)行）時(shí)態(tài)；當(dāng)然“不久前、最近”對應(yīng)于過去（進(jìn)行）時(shí)態(tài)；until recently的含義是“直到不久前，不久前”等。
recent(ly)通常可用于五種時(shí)態(tài)
1）一般過去時(shí)；
2）現(xiàn)在完成時(shí)；（這也是2016年高考英語真題的考點(diǎn)）
3）現(xiàn)在完成進(jìn)行時(shí)；
4）過去進(jìn)行時(shí)；
5）一般現(xiàn)在時(shí)，如be, seem等。

I (have) heard from him recently.

The tree was planted near a church fifty years ago, but it is only in recent yearsthat it has gained an evil reputation.
后半句事實(shí)上是個(gè)強(qiáng)調(diào)句，可理解為that it has gained an evil reputation only in recent years. 這里把recent對應(yīng)于現(xiàn)在完成時(shí)源于此。
這也是2016年考查的一個(gè)重點(diǎn)：in recent years常常與現(xiàn)在完成時(shí)匹配使用。
