Kiddo: Numbers and stars.

孩子:數(shù)字和星星。

Mom: Yes. How many stars are there on these two number wheels individually?

媽媽:是的。兩個數(shù)字轉盤上各有幾個星星?

Kiddo: Two on the left, and three on the right.

孩子:左邊的轉盤有兩個星星,右邊有三個。

Mom: Good job! Do you know which number is greater, two or three?

媽媽:不錯!那2和3中哪一個數(shù)字大呢?

Kiddo: Three is larger than two, because three stars are more than two stars.

孩子:當然是3比2大,3個星星要多于兩個。

Mom: Yeap, then how many more?

媽媽:那大幾個呢?

Tips for parents:

父母這樣做:

a. We can use all kinds of stuff around us to help kids understand the number value, like lego pieces and blocks that they play with, bowls and chopsticks when they set the table before meal, etc.. Keep counting and matching with numbers is easy to do, just ask them how many do they see, and they’ll recognize abstract numbers are everywhere in our life.

1、我們可以用你身邊的任何物品去理解抽象的數(shù)字含義,平時玩的積木類玩具,飯前幫忙擺放的碗筷等。數(shù)一數(shù)并和數(shù)字配對,多問問孩子那是多少,他們就會發(fā)現(xiàn)抽象的數(shù)字無處不在。

b. I suggest a linear comparison, as shown in the picture below. Build each number, lining them up one on top of the other. Help kids to see that up to a certain point, they had the same number (which is 2 in this case), but one of the group has 1 more. To help kids visualize the more part, I thought it would be helpful to cover up the part that is the same and just leave the difference showing.

2、推薦一種比較數(shù)量的方法:把每個數(shù)字都用實物擺出來,每個數(shù)字擺一排,上下一一對應,如下圖。從而幫助孩子看出上下兩組都含有2個,但是其中一組多1。家長可以用手或是紙板擋住相同的數(shù)量,孩子則可以很清楚地看到其中一組比另外一組多出來的數(shù)量。
