我們一起來看看compare這個(gè)詞的用法：
compare…with; compar…to; compared with／to
compare…with意為“把……與……相比”，側(cè)重指兩者間的區(qū)別。
如：Compare this car with that one, and you will find the differences between them．
把這輛汽車與那輛汽車相比較，你就會(huì)發(fā)現(xiàn)它們之間的區(qū)別。
compare…to…意為“把……比作……”，著重注意兩者間的相似點(diǎn)。如：
This song compares our country to a big family．這首歌把我們的國家比作一個(gè)大家庭。
compare既可以單獨(dú)用作及物動(dòng)詞，也可用作不及物動(dòng)詞。用作不及物動(dòng)詞時(shí)，以compare with…形式出現(xiàn)，表示“與……相比”。如：
Living here can’t compare with living in Shanghai．在這兒生活不能和在上海（生活）相比。
If you compare the two words， you can tell the difference between them．
如果你比較這兩個(gè)單詞，你就會(huì)辨別出它們之間的不同。
compared with…和compared to…都可用作狀語，意義基本相同，可互換。如：
Compared to／with him， you are lucky． 與他相比，你是幸運(yùn)的。
It was a small town then， compared to／with what it is now． 和現(xiàn)在比起來，那時(shí)它還是個(gè)小鎮(zhèn)。
附：.表示“把……與……比較”，通常用 compare……with……，但在現(xiàn)代英語中，也可用 compare……to……，或者用 compare……and……。如：
If you compare his work with [and] hers, you’ll find hersis much better. 要是把他倆的工作比較一下，就會(huì)發(fā)現(xiàn)她的好得多。
Having compared the new dictionary with [to] the old one, he found the new one more helpful. 將新舊詞典比較之后，他發(fā)現(xiàn)新詞典更有用。
Compared with [to] many women, she was indeed veryfortunate. 和許多女人相比，她的確算是很幸運(yùn)的了。
